Description Of The Organization:

The Center for Research and Integrated Health Systems Strengthening (CRIHSS Foundation) is a local organization in Cameroon focused on strengthening laboratory services including transportation for the health sector. Since 2019, the CRIHSS Foundation has continued to collaborate with regional and international organizations to support the Government of Cameroon(GoC) in developing and implementing health programs. The organisation collaborates with the Ministry of Health and other partners to strengthen laboratory capacity and clinical services, with a particular focus on HIV testing (VL, EID), TB services and treatment


In the last five years, CRIHSS has been at the forefront of advancing laboratory services with an emphasis on designing and implementing sample transportation services for HIV(VL, EID), TB and other related programs. CRIHSS Foundation has worked extensively with PEPFAR IPs to expand its sample transportation service delivery program in Cameroon. Within the framework of its Project INTRASSAT funded by CDC/PEPFAR, CRIHSS Foundation will continue to support national capacity and strengthen transportation and referral of samples for laboratory testing services and return of results for HIV, TB, and emerging infectious diseases in Cameroon.

Duties And Responsibilities

Within this funding opportunity, CRIHSS Foundation is currently seeking to hire a highly motivated individual to serve as Coordinator for the INTRASSAT Project. These Coordinators will oversee the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of assigned projects or programs. In addition, they will be expected to perform the following key roles and responsibilities:

  • Liaise with partners, district services and the regional delegation to share project objectives, share and resolve challenges for better project results;

  • Supervise all activities at the zone level covering all health facilities;

  • Assist in the identification and training of potential motorbike drivers, motorcycle associations and couriers who will work in the system;

  • Assist in the preparation of hubs for all system products;

  • Carry out a monthly evaluation of the system's functionality, make recommendations and report to management;

  • Provide a weekly report on biker/messenger service activities using a standard form to the Technical Director;

  • Visit hubs and spoke sites to regularly monitor motorbike and courier activities and report to management;

  • Coordinate the implementation of all programme activities at the regional level;

  • Review and coordinate the work plans and reports of other staff in the region;

  • Review zone activity and project reports before submission to the Technical Director;

  • Work closely with all activity and lead managers to ensure the smooth implementation of activities in the areas covered;

  • Coordinate all training activities in his/her area;

  • Collect all data collected in his/her area;

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the CRIHSS management.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, Public Health, Health Economics, Public or Business administration, Social sciences, or other relevant field or equivalent, related training or experience.

Work experience:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Sample transport collection, handling, packaging, and transportation as well as Implementation of continuous quality improvement programs.

  • Country Regional level experience is a plus, as is experience contributing to the design, management and reporting of the program;

  • Experience in working in HIV and TB programs across fragile and difficult geographies in the country setting is a plus. Skills/Competencies:

  • Demonstrated capacity to manage a variety of activities simultaneously and take initiative;

  • Analysis, problem-solving, sound judgment;

  • Drive, pro-activeness, action and results orientation; Continuous improvement; Interpersonal and teamwork skills; diplomacy and tact;

  • Oral communication, writing and presentational skills;

  • Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications;

  • Ability to work successfully in a multicultural, multi-partner environment, and establish harmonious working relationships, both within and outside the organisation;

  • Knowledge/understanding of Laboratory system strengthening, diagnostic network optimization QA is an asset;

  • Written and spoken fluency in English and French is essential.
